FAQ

What is a Ka Huna Massage Treatment?

A Ka Huna massage treatment is usually a full body massage that starts on the back body and finishes on the front body, they are extremely relaxing. Not everyone one wants their front body massaged and this is OK, your bodyworker will ask what your preference is. This treatment originates in Hawaiian culture and was used for restoring balance to the mind, body and soul. In Ka Huna treatments we use long flowing strokes that are rhythmical and several parts of the body are worked on at once. This type of movement encourages our body to be like water and flow with ease. These long strokes are extremely relaxing. A Ka Huna massage promotes release in the body, mind and soul so that you have more space to realign and reconnect with yourself. We are here to support you to find more inner peace as Ka Huna treatments are more than a body treatment, they heal the mind and soul as well.

What is Romiromi / Mirimiri?

Romiromi / Mirimiri is the ancient art of Maori bodywork/massage. It encompasses the mind, body and soul philosophy just as Ka Huna treatments do. Romiromi uses pressure points to agitate and stimulate the body while Mirimiri works on the muscles and is gentler. Sometimes we use a raku (rounded stick) on the body to support this work. These sessions are done with the client being fully clothed. Romiromi sessions are generally intense and are recommended when you are specifically looking to release what no longer serves you or if you are wanting to dive deeply into your ancestral trauma.

Are you a remedial massage therapist?

I am NOT a remedial therapist. What I offer is a relaxation massage, that supports the body, mind and soul. Relaxation will relieve pain, release stress, support better sleep, self awareness and induce deep healing.
